Hong Kong has once again implemented a travel ban from Jan 8 to 21.
Hong Kong is considered one of the top destinations of OFWs. But because of the ban, those travelers going to Hong Kong for work will be put in an uncertain situation.
Since their flights are canceled, they will have to rebook it as well as the quarantine hotel that they will be staying to follow the country’s health protocol. They will also need to undergo an RT-PCR test, something that isn’t free in the Philippines. They will hope that they won’t test positive for the virus just like the other 100 Filipinos who arrived in HK with the Omicron variant.
Repeating all these procedures costs too much for an ordinary Filipino aiming to work abroad. Meanwhile, the question of many travelers is, “Is the travel ban really until Jan. 21 only?”
In the Philippines, the number of COVID-19 ever since the pandemic began has reached the 3 million mark. The number of cases every day is more than 30,000. It this alarming to think that the vaccination drive is intensified in the country.
With the emergence of the Omicron variant, can we still be able to experience normality again?
