A Filipino cyclist in Taiwan was just about to go to a cycling event when he passed away due to a hit and run incident.
The identity of the victim was not mentioned but according to the Central News Agency in Taiwan, he is a 32-year-old Filipino who was going to the Bali District, New Taipei City to attend a cycling event. He was hit near Rui-Ping Elementary School at around 4:27 in the morning.
The police are still searching for the driver who immediately fled following the incident. The driver allegedly left her vehicle and run away.
When the incident happened, the victim was cycling with another two Filipinos.
Currently, there is no Philippine Embassy in Taiwan. However, the two countries are maintaining a cultural and economic office situated in Taipei.
There are no further details regarding the incident but it is said that the victim showed no vital signs when authorities arrived at the scene. He was then pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.
An investigation is underway to identify the owner of the car.
