The family of an Overseas Filipino Worker from Laoag City is currently in despair after knowing about the incident that involved their relative in Papua New Guinea.
According to reports, Romulo Antonio Jr. 36 years old, was slain by unknown assailants. His remains were later on thrown away to a remote area in the country.
Antonio, who works as a manager, was allegedly taken by four men from his residence. Through the help of CCTV cameras all over the place, one of the suspects was identified and pointed out where they left the remains of the OFW.
The suspect confirmed that at first, they only want to take the money and the belongings of the victim. However, the incident resulted in murder.
Other suspects were also intercepted by the local police in Papua New Guinea.
Meanwhile, the family Antonia finds it hard to accept that the OFW passed away in such a brutal manner.
The Overseas Workers Administration in Ilocos Norte refused to give their statement because they still don’t have the documents to confirm the incident. Despite that, they assured the family of the victim to extend their support and benefits.
The remains of Antonio will soon be repatriated back to the Philippines.
