“You’re the Best Nanny in the World” – these are the words of the wards of a Filipino Worker in Qatar.
Jovelyn Castillon works as a domestic helper in Qatar. In has been with the same employer for 10 years and she has already grown a bond with her two Palestinian Romanian wards age 12 and 14.
According to Castillon, sometimes her wards are the ones cooking, and only want her to watch over them as they do household chores.
Castillon feels happy every time her wards cook for her, even with a simple egg or pancake knowing that they are very showy with their affection to her.
“They always say “I love you Jovi, you’re the best nanny in the world,” says Jovelyn.
Jovelyn also said that they never fail to say ‘thank you’ whenever she cooks Filipino food for them. Even when they are in the mall, her wards always buy something for her like shirts and slippers.
“Tapos pag nasa travel sila, lahat sila my pasalubong sa akin,” says Jovelyn.
If you land a kind-hearted employer, it is considered a huge blessing. Imagine going abroad without any relatives and friends. That’s really a lonely journey. However, if you have an employer who treats you like family and provides you with a home away from home, it is a blessing that not everyone can enjoy.
