At a young age, we are taught by our elders not to touch electrical appliances if our hands are wet. However, this OFW seems to have forgotten this basic lesson.
Elvira Demotor works in Bahrain. But when the incident happened, she was in Cebu.
According to reports, the 40-year-old OFW had in contact with a rice cooker that was still plugged when she got electrocuted. Her hands were still wet when the incident happened.
Her daughter, Shanaine, related the incident to the police. According to Shainaine, they were at their house in Barangay Tubigagmanok, Asturias, Cebu when the incident happened.
Shanaine said that her mother didn’t notice that the rice cooker’s cord is damaged and she plugged it into a power outlet. She noticed that her mother collapsed to the floor after plugging the rice cooker.
Demotor was immediately rushed to the hospital but was announced dead on arrival. One of her daughters of Demotor couldn’t believe her mother’s early demise. She described her mother as ‘loving and caring’.
“She always prioritized us, her children, and loved us more than her life,” Trisha Ann Demotor said. The OFW had six children, two sons, and four daughters.
