A Filipina domestic helper in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia escaped from her employer after the latter tried to sexually assault her. However, instead of getting apprehended by the police, the employer claimed that the Filipina stole something from him.
According to GMA News, Michelle escaped from her employer because he tried to abuse her sexually. Instead, the Filipina got in trouble and the female employer accused her of theft.
The Filipina was accused of stealing a cellphone.
Ganoon po ba talaga ang batas?” says the mother of the OFW, who asked for help.
The OFW reached the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) in Riyadh and her agency is now asking her to sign the exit visa but was intercepted by the police.
The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) already asked the Office of the Undersecretary for Migrant Workers Affairs for help.
Meanwhile, DMW Secretary Susan Ople reached out to the Saudi Arabia Embassy and the Labor Attache in Saudi Arabia to help with the case of Michelle.
The bilateral talks between the Philippines and Saudi Arabia are also ongoing.
