OWWA Regional Welfare Office VI offers a free IT Training program for OFWs and their dependents who are interested to upgrade their computer skills.
The free IT training program is a computer literacy program of OWWA that provides OFWs and their families training and access to technology intended to bridge the communication gap between the OFWs & their families and allows them to communicate with each other through the internet.
The program also aims to upgrade their IT skills. Short-term courses included in the training modules are learn & earn – using technology wisely and different fundamentals such as computer, internet & world wide web (www), word processing, presentation, spreadsheet, and digital media which would broaden career opportunities for OFWs and their dependents.
Basic computer literacy program initially aims to upgrade the IT skills of OFWs and their families. IT Training centers were set-up in OWWA Regional Offices and other overseas posts initially to enhance family connectivity using mobile and internet connections. Eventually, it evolved in teaching IT applications to upgrade the skills and knowledge of OFWs and dependents for employment.
