In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Project EASE was created to assist college-level dependents of active OWWA OFWs who had been repatriated or displaced. Those who are approved will receive PhP10,000 in cash each year for 4 years for their education.
Overview
It is common for Filipino workers abroad to save a large portion of their earnings from working away from home so they can provide for their children and families. Nevertheless, a large number of OFWs have lost their jobs as a result of the pandemic. Through this project, the dependents of these Filipinos will be able to finance their education.
Benefits
Each recipient of an approved scholarship grant is entitled to PhP10,000 per year for four (4) years for a dependent who is enrolled at a college level.
Qualifications
Students who are dependent on active OWWA OFW members can take part in Project EASE. A renewed membership will be required before a grant can be applied for by an inactive member or an expired member.
Eligible dependents of OWWA OFW members include:
- When the OFW member is married or is a single parent, children under 30 years of age are eligible for this grant:
- If the OFW member is a single parent, the sibling, child, or nephew/niece under 30 years of age are eligible.
Not covered by Project EASE:
- Scholarship Grant holders under the ODSP, EDSP, ELAP-Education and CMWSP
