Erwin Tulfo, secretary of Social Welfare and Development, recently signed a mandate that allows the creation of a group that will handle the Implementing Rules and Regulation (IRR) for the Expanded Solo Parent Welfare Act (R.A. 11861).
Tulfo aims to deliver the said benefits to Solo Parents on December or in a sooner date.
Some of the benefits of this Solo Parent Welfare Act are the following
1,000 subsidy from the LGU
Automatic membership of PhilHealth
20% discount on hospital bills
10% discount on tuition fees
15% discount on school supplies
VAT exemption for children’s food and personal things like diapers.
Priority when applying for work
Aside from the benefits mentioned above, they are also given priority for 4Ps if they are receiving minimum or below minimum salary. They can also apply for the DSWD’s Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP).
