An Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) in Kuwait is asking for help after she was allegedly maltreated by her employer. It was also found out that the manpower agency who brought the OFW to Kuwait and the employer are relatives.
The OFW, identified only as Jaymie, gathered her courage and asked for help, fearing that she will suffer the same faith as Jullibee Ranara.
It was on January 29, when her male employer called the OFW. It was then that the employer started to molest Jaymie. Because of fear, she chose not to do anything.
In the afternoon, Jaymie decided to tell the wife of her male employer. Instead of taking her side, the female employer got angry at her.
Jaymie was able to record the conversation:
Female Employer: Give me fulus (money). Give me money. Give me my money.
Male Employer: Nasaan ang pera. Give me fulus (money).
Other Filipina Helper: Beh ibigay mo raw ‘yung pera.
Female Employer: Hindi ka makakauwi ng Pilipinas.
Other Filipina: Ibigay mo na.
Male Employer: Money? Ibigay mo sa akin? Give me money.
Female Employer: Animal! Animal ka. Hindi ka makaalis. Animal! (sinaktan si Jaymie)
Jaymie: (crying)
Male Employer: Money
Jaymie: (crying)
According to Jaymie, their conversation was shifted to money because they were trying to take back the salary they gave her. Jaymie’s employers were also trying to take her phone.
In the end, Jaymie’s employers decided to send her back to the Philippines. On January 31, Jaymie returned to the Philippines.
Jaymie cried as she related her experiences in Kuwait. Still, she is grateful that she managed to safely return home to her family in the Philippines.
The Agency
Meanwhile, Jaymie tried to ask for help from her agency in Kuwait. However, they didn’t help and just sent her a message to be careful always.
Department of Migrant Workers Usec. Hans Cacdac said that the agency should have gone immediately to the employer’s residence after Jaymie reported the incident.
